Recyclable bags to pack fruit and vegetables for 1 cent
As of this summer, Aldi supermarkets in Germany will be charging one cent of euro for recyclable bags to pack fruit and vegetables. The aim of the operation is to encourage the consumer to phase out the use of plastic bags.

As announced by Aldi Sud and Aldi Nord in a statement, the renewable raw materials bags will be put into service in the various subsidiaries of the discount giant starting this summer in the fruit and vegetables department at the symbolic price of one cent of euro.
If consumers are now using fewer plastic bags to store their groceries since they have been billed in cash, as indicated by the federal Department of the Environment. However, he does not hesitate to make joyful use of the plastic bags made available free of charge by a distributor roll to each fruit and vegetable department.

The worm would be in the fruit! In order to overcome this situation and to participate actively in the protection of the environment, Aldi takes the bull by the horns by replacing the plastic bags available free of charge in the food department with biodegradable packaging made from a raw material derived from sugar cane.
